When the stars are aligned - or just plain focusing is getting the job done! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Good to know I'm not alone in my frustration with the call centers! To top it off, DH finally had a chance to look at the new remote last night. For whatever reason, he put the same batteries as he tried last time into the old remote, and it worked. I give up! I'm going to make that note for him - put it on the TV. I'm pretty sure he is authorized to chat on our account. If not, you can be sure I'll make that happen!

Not my problem -- I'm done with that. For ...

New versus Classic! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Regarding the headphone issue, I am using a pair of Shokz—they are also referred to as open-ear buds. I LOVE them, but while I can hear things around me, they do NOT block out the noise of the sewing machine or the long arm. So as I'm cutting and ironing, they are amazing, but the minute I start to sew, the machine's noise overrules the audiobook! And the long arm is even worse!

I'll try the old headphones one more time, and then if I can't jiggle that connection, I'll ditch them and get ...

The office decluttering continues from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

And so the decluttering continues! I have NOT found that file folder that initiated this current cleaning frenzy, and I NEED that folder. I've promised the contents to someone. So I have a couple more spots to look - actually, at this point, just one, and if it's not there, I will have to recreate the files. I have some of it in hard copy, but it needs to be digital. Sigh...........

Well, that's OK, but the darn thing is I remember sorting and cleaning that folder. I did NOT throw it out. Where the heck is the ...

The power of positive thinking! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH OH OH !!!!! I had to laugh when I read Elle's comment this morning! YES --- tidying up a drawer or anything is a snap once the JUNK is gone. I'm shocked at how easy everything is to maintain in the areas where we have eliminated all the junk. By junk, that may be literally garbage that should be thrown away, or it may mean those things you no longer need or want. GET RID OF IT!!!

It takes a long time to get there, but once you do, the amount of FREE time you'll have will shock ...

We've got work to do!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks for the wishes and the vote of confidence on my 2026 word - GOALS. Someone mentioned they had goals for 2025, and while they met some, they didn't hit the mark on all of them. And you know what they said? They FORGAVE themselves for not making the mark! That is a critical statement because if you set a goal and don't achieve it, and then you beat yourself up, what is the point of that?

If you have to change a goal, there's likely a good reason. Was the goal too aggressive? Did family or health ...

Happy New Year!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

 Happy New Year!!!!!

If the year is going to be anything like my first 30 minutes of being awake this morning, it's going to be a heck of a ride!

But first - did I stay up last night? I did NOT, however, I needed to use the washroom, and I checked my watch just for curiosity, and it was 11:58. So technically, I was up! But I wasn't celebrating, and thankfully, I went right back to sleep after the clock turned over!

We had great fun at the Virtual Retreat, and well, that's where my morning ...

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's Christmas!!!! While we don't do a lot for Christmas these days because it's just the two of us, we still have traditions! They are just different. Like all of you, I have so many Christmas memories, but one in particular that I'm sure my parents will never forget.

I was pretty young and was fast asleep in my bed when something woke me up. Likely, my mom was putting out the presents. I sprang from my bed and ran into the living room, shouting, "he's here, he's here!" Yep -- I thought Santa had ...

A mitten review from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yikes—after the clothes comments, I'd better get myself organized and get rid of some of these excess clothes! I use the dryer all the time, but I don't wear once and wash. It's a T-shirt, I'm in the house and practically have a desk job, I'm not a stinky person, and YES - most of my clothes are old. I wear them until they wear out, which takes a long, long time. The poor sweatshirt I'm wearing this morning is probably 20 years old. It's faded, and I am hoping to replace it ...

PRIORITIZE FOCUS WIN!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

That feels better—I was off bright and early to meet with Brooke. My legs have been so tired since my last trip, but after my stretching and compression pants, they feel so much better!

Well, I am loving this relaxed schedule and certainly want to take advantage of it for as long as I can! I have two trips, a quilt retreat, and one guild lecture to round out the last two months of the year, so that should be pretty easy. It's giving me lots of time to tackle those current project tables, but as we all ...

A place for everything, everything in its place! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm glad I'm not the only one having dreams. I woke up remembering another dream, but it was a pleasant dream. Some of us were sewing, making things, and borrowing stuff from each other - just like at a quilt retreat! It was a fun dream!

And I'm happy to report that I had a great day yesterday. I did not get everything done that I wanted to, but I made tremendous progress. I completed almost half of the side job, efficiently using the fabric I was given, and effectively using my time. It took just over three ...

MOM - we'll help clean up! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I see there are some new recommendations for books! I may have to give up sewing to get through them all! As much as I love to read, I could never read all day, as that just wouldn't work for me. Variety is the spice of life! So reading and sewing!

A couple more flower pictures! I made Murphy wait while I took these; she was not happy!

Love the color of this rose

Even in October, a full seed of a dandelion

In the afternoon, I was outside in the gazebo. I couldn't help myself, as I ...

Switching up quilt projects is a good thing! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Good grief -- I am NOT nervous about this MRI, but it's obviously in my subconscious as I had another dream, and this time, I was headed for surgery. Yesterday afternoon, I got a reminder call from the hospital about the appointment, which is very early tomorrow morning. In my surgery dream, the hospital gowns were see-through? Too much Janet Evanovich (I just finished Now or Never #31), and I seemed to have bathroom issues (I had a conversation with my Mom earlier in the day about that very thing, but it was her, not me!) I love how the ...

Hidden in PLAIN view from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh, FARCE!!!!! If you read yesterday's post, I mentioned how men overlook little details. So imagine my dilemma when I couldn't see a box of fabric if it hit me in the head!

I was looking for a new UFO to work on. I knew where the project was, so I dug out the basket with the supplies. My goal for this month was to get myself organized, so I went for this project: Farm Girl Vintage.

The basket for the Farm Girl Vintage project

I had some free time yesterday afternoon, so I decided to get organized ...

September UFO finished and Some Slow Stitching from The Cozy Quilter

Last week, I mentioned that I was doing a UFO challenge with a group of friends starting in October.  Since I have way more than 12 UFO's, I decided this week to get one done for the month of September! I quilted the Barn wall hanging earlier in the week and did the binding and hanging sleeve as well before changing the calendar to October!

Here is a picture of the finished wall hanging with part of it covered...I'm not revealing who this is for just yet. The barn is quilted with vertical lines and the roof ...

Two Finishes! from The Cozy Quilter

Last week, I gave you a sneak peak at a gift I made, and, now that the gift has been given, I can show you the finished wall hanging.  I used up some more of my 30's prints for this one, although the barn fabric is just from my red drawer.  I quilted the barn with vertical lines to look like barn boards.  The silo is quilted with horizontal lines.  The little basket block was in my spare parts box--I made many basket blocks years ago with my friend, Christine.  This was a good opportunity to use one for ...

UFO day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's almost time for our next UFO meeting, and I didn't share with you what we all accomplished this past month.

We have all been busy as beavers, and NO money went into the kitty. This group is pretty serious about those commitments. I need to get myself in gear to get my homework done as we meet on Sunday, and I don't need another entire day of sewing blocks to meet a deadline, although I will if I have to.

First up are Susan's blocks for the Farm Girl Vintage. These are all 12" blocks ...

Weekly Report from the Sewing Room from The Cozy Quilter

There were some changes in my plans this week... When I tried to get the right size of knitting needles for my next cloth pattern, the local knitting store was sold out.  I have my name on the list to get them when they arrive from the distributor, but like many shipments these days, things are taking a little longer to arrive.  In the meantime, I wanted to knit something, so I made another simple dish cloth using blue variegated yarn.

Here is my completed project, just finished today.

Blue was the theme colour of my week as I used ...

Slow Sunday Stitching and Knitting from The Cozy Quilter

Hello!  We had a glorious sunny day yesterday and much of the day was spent outside, cleaning up the gardens, walking Finn and reading in the gazebo.  We even ate out lunch outside on the patio for the first time this year.  There was no stitching or knitting of any kind yesterday, but, today, it is raining, a perfect day to stay inside and do some slow stitching.

I finished my basket weave dish cloth this week.  You can really see the pattern created by the variegated yarn, now that it is done.  I have a new knitting pattern for ...
